November 2009 : launch of yellow ribbon campaign (suicide awareness campaign) : (slide show, skit, video presentation for whole school, cupcakes for entire school, all students sign yellow ribbon)

February 2010 : Class trip to Bail Court, Soup kitchen and presentation on drugs and alcohol abuse (non-perishable food item donations)

March 2010 : Hockey game (girls' hockey team vs. women's police team) whole school in attendance

June 2010 : speeding awareness project (students prepared flyers, signs donated, 50 drivers stopped) (headlines in 3 local newspapers, CBC radio interviews)

June 2010 : year end wrap up meeting : students fill a banner with things they like about their school

Initial meeting (division of members into sub groups)

  • Guest speaker Eva Olssen (holocaust survivor)
  • Graffiti eradication Day (made headlines in 5 newspapers)

October 14th

  • Bullying, drug and alcohol abuse awareness day
  • Large monitor purchased for school lobby to display photos of school activities
  • Framework for anonymous email set-up through school website.

November 2010

  • Sock campaign for homeless
  • Preparation for confidence and community building project (weekly personality of the week awards broadcast on school television program)
  • Anti-bullying campaign (work on posters to raise awareness on how to deal with bullying)
  • Work on White ribbon campaign (to end violence against women) prepared for December 6th (anniversary of Polytechnique in Montreal)
  • Organising self-defense classes for girls
  • Order billboard for school to broadcast awareness projects and Esp activities
  • Begin construction of large display case in school to raise awareness on issues and publicize ESP activities
